What Brand Strategy Is (And Why It Matters A LOT!)
What is brand strategy? Well my friend, in today's blog, we're gonna answer that question. But first, have you ever wondered how big successful coaches, artists, and visionary companies get known? It seems like people just flock to them like bees to honey, right? But have you ever stopped and asked yourself why that is? (Especially if they offer similar work as you!)
The answer to that is their brand. Whether intentional or not, we all have a "brand". It's how we present ourselves to the world, whether through our style, personality, likes/dislikes, the way we talk, or sharing our unique gifts and skills.
Similarly, businesses and entrepreneurs have a brand that represents their products or services. Brand strategy is the process of being intentional about that brand and how it is presented to the world so that you can attract the right people.
Because believe it or not, brands are waaaaaaaay more than just a logo, colour combo, or a name! A brand is a promise, an experience, and a way of life. It's a whooooole VIBE people can feel.
So in this blog post, I want to help you understand what brand strategy is and why it matters, especially for coaches, creatives, and soul-led entrepreneurs!
Ready to dive in and learn what it takes to be magnetic to your soul mate people?
Let’s do it!
What Brand Strategy Is
First things first, let’s define what brand strategy is. Brand strategy refers to the intentional and long-term plan that a business or solopreneur has to create a unique image, voice, and message to differentiate itself from other people who offer similar services or products.
In a nutshell: it's the secret sauce and foundation to building a successful and memorable business long term.
A brand strategy includes:
- Market position
- Brand story
- Ideal customer/target audience
- Unique selling proposition (USP)
- Visual brand identity (logo, colours, photos, fonts, etc.)
- Brand messaging and communication (copy, tone of voice, etc.)
- And more!
It might seem like a lot to consider, but it's all about creating a cohesive and consistent brand that speaks directly to your ideal audience. A strong brand strategy can help you stand out in a crowded market and attract the right people who resonate with your message.
Why Brand Strategy Matters (especially NOW more than ever)
Now you might be thinking, "But why do I need a brand strategy if it's just ME... a solopreneur? Can't I just wing it or copy what others are doing?"
And my answer is... NO. Sorry, boo.
Without a clear brand strategy, your message will get lost in the noise of the online world and you'll struggle to connect with your audience on a deeper level.
Not only that, but since COVID brought more businesses online, and more and more people are pursuing entrepreneurship and following their calling, the internet is becoming increasingly saturated.
So now, more than ever, having a solid brand strategy is essential to differentiate yourself and create your own welcoming home in the online space.
Having a well-defined brand strategy allows you to:
- Attract and retain aligned clients
- Repel people who are not a good fit
- Establish trust and credibility
- Increase brand awareness and recognition
- Differentiate yourself from other coaches and creatives
- Create consistency in your marketing efforts
- Build a loyal community around your brand
- Increase customer loyalty
- Enhance customer experience and enjoyment
- Drive sales and revenue growth
- Position yourself as a leader, teacher, guide, or professional
- Create genuine emotional connections with people
And just overall STAND OUT in a sea of sameness that makes our eyes glaze over.
Your brand should be as unique as you are, and a solid brand strategy helps you show your true colours (literally and figuratively 😉).
To wrap this beauty up...
If you're serious about growing your business long-term and making a positive impact, then investing time and effort into developing your brand is an essential step that every entrepreneur goes through.
Don't underestimate the power of having a clear brand strategy — it can make all the difference in how your audience perceives you and ultimately, how successful your business becomes.
So take some time to define your brand values, ideal client, niche, messaging, and visual identity... especially if you're a newbie entrepreneur or you skipped this set when setting up your biz (and you're not seeing the results you hoped for yet!).
Your future self (and business) will thank you for it!
And of course, if you need any help or support along the way, I'm here for you as your new brand bestie and on-call word wizard.
Let's create a soul-aligned brand together!
