Divine "Laziness" & How I Rest Without Guilt

entrepreneurship

The last three days I’ve spent on the couch with Netflix, cuddles, coconut bliss ice cream and a good fantasy book.

I wasn’t being “lazy”, I was RESTING

I don’t know about you, but I spend sooooo much time working. Creating. Doing. Serving. Producing. Hustling. And exerting energy in this fast paced world, that it’s super important for me to rest when my body needs it.

And I’m celebrating myself this week for taking these three days to honour my body’s needs! (Especially during my pre-menstrual phase of my cycle).

But it wasn’t always this way.

I used to feel sooooo guilty about resting and would burn myself out! (I healed myself from adrenal fatigue a few years ago… that was NOT fun.).

In Western culture, I think it’s safe to say that most of us grew up learning that in order to be a valuable human being, that we constantly have to be producing and doing. So I treated myself awful whenever I “did nothing” because I unconsciously equated it with my worth as a human!

Yikes!

But now I call bullshit on that story. Last time I checked, I’m not a robot.

I can’t go-go-go without replenishment and self-care.

My hormones have cycles. Nature has cycles. Creativity has cycles. The moon has cycles. Each day is a cycle.

The BEING part of our nature is just as valuable as the DOING part.

Some people call this energy “feminine” or Yin Energy. I don’t care what you call it, as long as it’s honoured in ourselves and others.

So I’ve chosen to drop the guilt and honour my own truth.

With my bleed approaching, I’m reclaiming my power of DOING absolutely NOTHING… and loving it!

They’ll be plenty of time (because we live in an abundant Universe and the present moment is infinite), to get back to “the hustle” once my hormones have shifted and I have more energy to produce again.

But for now… rest (without the guilt!).

And I invite you to do the same by journaling on the following questions:

  1. Where in your life could you use a break?
  2. What would it take for you to schedule in this time?
  3. How can you ask for support to let yourself rest? And from who?
  4. Can you choose to release the guilt of taking care of yourself first? (So you ultimately have more to give others from a full cup).

How  do you plan on nourishing yourself and what are your fave self-care practices?

Rise & shine,
